The New World Order and Jesus

Many evangelical Christians would have you believe that any move to unite humanity under a one world government – a “New World Order” – is against the Bible. They’re wrong. The Gospel is all about uniting the world together into one unified people, and I’ll prove it to you in less than 10 minutes.

New World Order

Previously on The Bible Nerds Show…

When we finished the last episode, the world was divided into 70 nations that were ruled by fallen supernatural beings known as the “sons of God.” This changes the way we look at Scripture, because it shows that there’s more going on in the world than just tribes that grew into city states and eventually nations and empires. There’s a spiritual element behind the scenes. This is what the Apostle Paul warned us of when he wrote:

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12 NIV)

We must remember this very important truth: YHWH is sovereign. He’s in control of everything. He’s a chess grandmaster seeing an infinite number of moves ahead. And when He gave control of the nations over to the sons of God, He had a plan to win them back. That plan began with a man named Abram.

One Nation Under God

Now the LORD said to Abram,
“Go out from your country, your relatives, and your father’s household
to the land that I will show you.
Then I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you,
and I will make your name great,
so that you will exemplify divine blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
but the one who treats you lightly I must curse,
so that all the families of the earth may receive blessing through you.” (Genesis 12:1-3 NET)

One Nation Under God?

YHWH’s plan to take back the earth was brilliant. He chose a simple man from the very heart of the rebellion against Him. That man received the favor of God Almighty. And YHWH promised to make this man’s descendants into a mighty nation. This nation would one day conquer all of the other nations of the earth, and YHWH would again rule a united humanity. That sounds a bit like the New World Order.

But the Apostle Paul calls this “the mystery of Christ.” All the earth will one day be welcomed into the people of God and under the banner of Messiah. The Kingdom of YHWH isn’t limited to a certain nation or ethnicity. Jesus’ death wasn’t just about personal salvation and atonement for personal sin. It is about the defeat of the enemies of YHWH and the reunification of all of humanity. The King tore down those walls of division so that all mankind could be united together under His perfect reign. There is a one world government coming. Some think it’s coming very soon.

Jesus is Bringing a New World Order

But this unification isn’t the same as what the world would describe as a “new world order.” It isn’t something won by military conquest or political persuasion. The world will only be united through the victory of Jesus Christ’s death, resurrection, and ascension. Right now, the nations rage against our King. But He is on His throne. He is drawing out people from every nation, race and language into the Kingdom of God. That Kingdom is unshakeable and eternal  This is the Fourth Principle of Good Bible Study: Jesus Christ is MORE than a Savior. He is King.
